AVGK Coaching
Welcome to AVGK Coaching for Goalkeeper Specific Training. Coaching is specific to all Goalkeepers needs. The goalkeepers needs are assessed through using an analysis, were each Goalkeeper will be rated on various goalkeeping attributes. The Goalkeeper Analysis is then used as a tool to measure progression on a monthly basis.
Specific Goalkeeper Coaching will help:
*Improve Technique*
*Improve Workrate*
*Understand their knowledge on positioning*
*Develop their movement in goal*
*Learn about decision making*
*Become more consistent and skilled*
*Improve their match performance*
*Most importantly to HAVE FUN*
Some background information on myself:
I initially started coaching at the age of 15 were I formed a team called West Lane Tigers for young people in my local community to help give them some positive activity. We coached 6-11 year olds.
Alongside this, I was training with an Academy before starting college. Whilst at College I completed various coaching courses as my aim was to become a Sports Development Officer. Whilst at College and University I played in goal for various Northern League clubs: Guisborough Town, Peterlee Newtown, Marske United and Thornaby whilst also representing The North Riding FA U18's for 2 years.
Since College I have studied a BSc (hons) in Youth Studies, worked with varied amounts of children, younger people and families throughout the North of England and completing a Postgrad in Child Adolescent Mental Health (largely focusing on development, MH difficulties/diagnosis, assessing MH and understanding various MH difficulties).
Whilst working full time supporting children, young people and families for over 15 years I have also, continuously used my coaching abilities within job posts.
The last 5 years I have coached at Kader FC and more recently Whinney Banks and Eaglescliffe Elementis FC.
My Dad, My Coach & My Hero:
My Dad was my coach, my trainer and my biggest teacher who sadly passed away in September 2021, after a short battle with cancer. He is the person that has inspired me to start coaching goalkeepers again, helped and supported me to get up and running with this. He helped with the coaching aspect and encouraged me to do what I could to help and support the next generation of goalkeepers.
